WHO ARE THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL AND HOUSE OF JUDAH?

The House of Israel consists of the Ten Northern Tribes, who were divorced, scattered, and assimilated into the Gentile nations approximately 750 years, or about 30 generations, before Christ began His ministry. They are the “lost sheep” whom Jesus came to find (Matthew 15:24). There is no biblical account of their return to the land of Israel. However, biblical prophecy speaks of their future return.

The House of Israel is composed of Israelites by heritage, although they may not realize it. They are neither Jews nor Gentiles by heritage. They are Israelites, although they were assimilated into and came to be identified with the Gentile nations. Ephraim is the leading tribe of the House of Israel, and Samaria was the capital of the northern kingdom.

The House of Judah consists of the Two Southern Tribes, who returned to the land of Israel after the Babylonian exile. They are called Jews. The capital of Judah was, and remains, Jerusalem.

Scripture tells us that God will eventually reunite the House of Israel and the House of Judah under Jesus Christ. He will dwell among His covenant people, unified Israel, in a way that will bring blessing to all the nations.
