WHO ARE THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL AND HOUSE OF JUDAH?
House of Israel is the Ten Northern Tribes - divorced, scattered, and assimilated into the Gentile nations about 750 years (30 generations) before Christ started his ministry. They are the “lost sheep” that Jesus came to find (Matthew 15:24). There is no historical biblical account of their return to the land of Israel. However, there is biblical prophecy that speaks of a return. The House is comprised of Israelites by heritage (though they may not realize it). They are not Jews or Gentiles but are often erroneously referred to as both. House of Israel’s head tribe is Ephraim. When the kingdom was intact, the capital was Samaria.
House of Judah is the Two Southern Tribes who returned to the land of Israel after their Babylonian exile. They are called Jews. The capital of Judah was and is Jerusalem.
Scripture tells us that God will eventually reunify House of Israel and House of Judah under Jesus Christ, who will dwell among his covenant people (unified Israel) in a way that will bless all the nations.
